Here's a self-help technique on the hand using the Pituitary reflex point for pain relief.
Using the pad of one of your thumbs, gently apply pressure to the pad of the other thumb, and hold. By taking the index of the finger and wrapping it around the thumb too, you can effectively apply more pressure, stimulating the reflex point further. Applying tiny rotations with your thumb over the reflex area will also help.
