Reflexology stimulates specific pressure points on the feet, face and hands that correspond with an area of the body. Highly effective in reducing pain and inflammation throughout the mind and body and encouraging a calm and deeply relaxed state. Reflexology effects the nerve pathways and encourages the release of toxins, removes congestion, releases energy blockages and balances all body systems, leaving clearer communication between them. Clients achieve a sense of clarity, relaxation, wholeness, wellness and vitality.

Gentle pressure is applied to all areas of the feet, face or hands with either the thumbs, fingers or hot stones to stimulate defined reflex points.

Suitable for all ages, it's a complementary therapy that works wonderfully alongside orthodox medicine, from acute illness to chronic conditions or for those in palliative care. Treatment effectiveness works on an individual basis and results vary from client to client, everyone has a different level of response. Everyone experiences an improvement in their overall well being over time, and all clients report feeling soothed after just one Reflexology session.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage

RLD is a specific way of performing Reflexology, using specialist moves that target the lymphatic system in particular.  Unlike our cardiovascular system, our lymphatics rely solely on bodily movement for the fluid to move. It plays a key role in our body's immune system, so targeting the key areas of the feet corresponding to the lymphatics, while also focusing on the area of concern, is a very effective way of stimulating the body's own response to reduce swelling, clear out toxins and blockages and boost our ability to fight infection.

Sam exclusively brings this specialist RLD Reflexology treatment to Sydney, Australia.

As with MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage), RLD can be used to treat other conditions aside from Secondary Lymphoedema.  The key difference between MLD and RLD is that instead of a massage or remedial therapist massaging the area of the body affected by fluid and swelling which can be sore and painful, especially after surgery, Reflexology Lymph Drainage is discreet and focuses solely on the feet or hands by encouraging the flow of fluid through the manipulation of lymphatic reflex points.

Watch this video below about how non evasive and beneficial Reflexology Lymph Drainage is to those with Secondary Lymphoedema.

What happens during an RLD treatment on a swollen limb?

Prior to a RLD treatment, where possible we begin by taking a few measurements of the affected, swollen limb/s with a tape measure and record the volume of fluid.  The RLD treatment then takes place on the feet (or hands) and the limb is re-measured.  This way, we can see and accurately track the difference in fluid volume. This is particularly useful to assess the progression of and improvement in a clients condition over time.

Because of the health assessment and measurement recording, treatments take around 90 minutes.

After just one treatment, clients experience an immediate release of tension and heaviness and in the area of Edema and you can often see the difference in swelling.

However, a series of 4-5 RLD sesssions, will record the greatest difference and improvement in feeling and condition of the affected area.  Clients report an overwhelming feeling of well being and the treatments will start to have a longer lasting effect over time.

My clients use RLD as an effective tool, often alongside compression garments and massage. They go on to have regular, monthly RLD treatments as part of an ongoing management of the condition.

Other conditions that can benefit from RLD treatments are:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Oedema
  • Lupus
  • Fibromyalgia
  • MS
  • Arthritis
  • IBS and Crohns
  • Skin conditions and allergies
  • Menstrual conditions
  • Auto immune conditions and those prone to frequent infection and in fact, any condition that involves an inflammation of body tissue.

Fertility Reflexology

With specialist Reproductive Reflexology, I support couples with conception issues, including women with unexplained fertility, miscarriage, endometriosis and PCOS, and those women taking fertility medication such as Clomid, Metformin and those undergoing IVF.

For men, the healing power of Reflexology can help with issues that can cause infertility such as a low sperm count, exhaustion and anxiety which can arise as a result of a stressful job, poor diet, hormone imbalance or low immunity.

Tailored, regular Reflexology treatments are geared towards each woman's individual menstrual cycle and support both the Follicular and Luteal phase and any hormonal issues that might be making these phases irregular.  The aim is to encourage balance in the Endocrine (hormone) system which can help ensure conception is more likely to occur.

The pressure of trying to conceive combined with the daily grind of our fast paced lives and often stressful situations, causes an effect on your body that is detrimental to fertility.  Stress is probably the most damaging problem and the biggest challenge when trying for a baby, so the more relaxed you can be, the happier your body and endocrine system will be.

Reflexology treatments also provide relief from the stress of conception in a calm, caring environment, helping to balance the body and ease the mind.  This positively assists couples to prepare for and work through the journey of trying for a baby, whatever the eventual outcome.

With some straightforward tips on how to achieve a healthier, balanced lifestyle.

The chance of a healthy woman conceiving per menstrual cycle is around 20%.  Most healthy couples take 5-6 months on average to conceive with some taking much longer, and that's with youth on-side.  When trying for a baby over a number of months and conception has not taken place, it is commonplace to seek medical advice.

In some cases, when finding the cause of women's infertility, the medical profession can adopt a 'sticking plaster' approach. It's simpler maybe to try and treat symptoms straight away with fertility treatments such as clomid or even IVF, before finding the cause of the problem and addressing it first and foremost.

Where Reflexology is concerned, by encouraging the body's own healing process, it can be an ideal option for dealing with the root of a fertility problem, in a natural way.  With experience, couples say that they feel empowered and more in control of their health by having Reflexology treatments and particularly as they may have indeed found a possible solution without resorting to drugs or evasive medical intervention.

Maternity Reflexology

Pregnancy has a profound effect on women's bodies and our lives.  With a specialist form of Pregnancy Reflexology, I support women through their 2nd, 3rd Trimester and preparation for labour with calming, relaxing and de-stressing Reflexology treatments that help balance both the mind and body, and their unborn baby as a result.

As the body copes with all the physiological and emotional changes that take place, Reflexology can be a comforting, beneficial support for common pregnancy ailments such as back aches and pains, digestive issues, tiredness, sickness, dizziness and fluid retention.  It is both a preventative and remedial therapy.

Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour, with women often requiring less pain-relief during the course of delivery.  A birth plan that includes Reflexology techniques for relaxation and stimulation where necessary is a useful and practical tool and some women and their partners find these techniques of real comfort during the initial phase of labour.

Many new mums also find Reflexology helpful in the first few days and weeks after labour, to help care for and support low mood, lactation, digestion, aches and pains, and encouraging the body to get back to it's natural, healthy state.

With newborn babies, breastfeeding, recovery from the trauma of birth itself and poor sleeping & settling can be helped with gentle, soothing Reflexology moves on their little feet.

Reflexology to manage Stress and anxiety

These days, it's not unusual to spend more time at work than at home.  Plus, it's often very difficult to switch off and hard to avoid taking the stresses of the day and some of the workload home with us.  When this happens, it can affect our physical, mental and emotional state of health and the quality of our personal relationships as a result.  Reflexology is a powerful antidote to stress and tension and incorporating Reflexology sessions into your regular monthly routine should be seriously considered as a remedial measure and and to help prevent sustained, harmful stress.

During Reflexology sessions, I teach my clients some relaxation techniques and tips they can use daily to help counterbalance the effects of their busy working lives.

The effects of Stress creeps into many aspects of our lives in an all too constant fashion and can be acutely felt as a weight, or burden on our shoulders, as a constant buzzing sensation in our heads, a surge of panic, negative feelings, and even aches or a sickness in the pit of our stomachs. Prolonged stress periods can even result in muscular pain and to add to the annoyance, the stress itself can create a more powerful stress response in itself, making it a vicious circle of experiences.

The art of dealing with stress is to recognise these warning signs in ourselves as early as possible, so that we can act promptly and make the most of techniques such as Reflexology, to bring some regular calm and balance into our lives.

When we learn to relax our body, we are able to cope with the challenges of life much more effectively and easily, life flows more freely, we feel more positive and we are better able to make good decisions. On a physiological level, as we relax, our stress hormones recede which allows our body systems and functions to return to a balanced mode and operate in the way that they are intended.

Furthermore, when we are relaxed, our body is better able to resist infection and disease and and heal any physical, mental or emotional imbalances.

Reflexology for Children

Reflexology helps with relaxation and helps to improve the well being of all ages, including babies, toddlers, children of school age and teenagers too.

With newborn babies, breastfeeding, recovery from the ordeal of birth and poor sleeping & settling can be helped with gentle, soothing Reflexology moves on their little feet.  The reflex touch is very gentle and the session shorter, although the results can be quite remarkable.

In the first few months of life, babies go through dramatic growth and transformation.  These are fun and joyful times but it isn't always straightforward and valued routines can be affected by the stress of poor sleeping, colic or perhaps teething pain.

Reflexology sessions can help ease the pain and create some comfort and reassurance for both mum and baby.  Teaching mums some reflexology relaxation techniques they can use on their babies tiny feet and hands are very effective and welcomed with open arms at times when parents feel helpless and despairing.

Mums having reflexology will calm and relax the nerves, encourage healing in the body and provide some valuable time-out. Life will probably feel a bit easier when returning back to the family fold.  Studies have shown that reflexology improves the quality of sleep in postnatal women, a bonus for new mums.

Toddlers & Small Children

Children at this stage are inquisitive and full of life but when something isn't quite right, it's not always easy to tell why.  Visiting the GP is the first step to check if they are poorly but if they are physically fine and their behaviour is still not normal for them, there may be stressors that are causing the upset and tantrums.

There are many reasons why tension can manifest itself; as a result of potty training, the birth of a sibling, change in daily routines or perhaps stress that's causing tummy or headaches.

Treating young children with Reflexology is a fun, interesting and interactive session, encouraging you and your child to participate in some massage and reflex techniques on their hands and feet gets them involved creatively and they get many healing benefits at the same time

The transition from child to young adult brings challenges; peer pressure, modern living, a surge in hormones, confidence and self-image pressures, as well as examination blues.

Research suggests that modern teenagers are more stressed and pressured than ever, and as result, their mental and emotional health can suffer.  More teenagers are seeing their GP for anxiety and depression and are looking for support in order to feel calmer, sleep better and improve their overall well being.

Teenagers respond very quickly to Reflexology treatments, they will learn how to feel calmer and more in control of their body and their health and well being.  Reflexology encourages their body systems to regulate, particularly for the nervous system, the endocrine (hormone) system and lymphatics for boosting immunity, it will help to safeguard more serious health issues in the future.

Reflexology for Athletes of all levels

Whether you are the occasional jogger, enjoy a good dance or fitness class or a serious athlete, Reflexology can help with the prevention and management of common sporting injuries such as those to the muscular and skeletal systems but also assists with improving performance, endurance, while encouraging a positive mindset.

Pre, post event, and maintenance Reflexology is known to support athletes of many types of sport.  Golf, tennis, cycling, dancing, gym and fitness training, football, netball and sailing to name just a few.

Reflexology works very well alongside other alternative therapies such as massage.  While massage is applied to a very specific area of the body, for example the quads or the hamstrings, including Reflexology treatments into your therapy plan will reduce pain, inflammation and bruising, plus accelerate the healing process in the problem area.

Overall, the goal with Reflexology is to improve the health and well being of those involved in sporting activities, both physically and mentally while simultaneously reducing pain and inflammation in muscles and joints.

Reflexology should be seriously considered as an effective remedial therapy for athletes post-operatively for the same reasons as described above.  Immediate relief from chronic pain and inflammation can be achieved and the healing process on all body systems kick-started.

Reflexology should be considered as a prevention therapy, as well as a remedial one.

How does it work?

Using a combination of Ayurvedic massage, Reflexology and Acupressure techniques, NFL works to release and smooth the muscles and tissues of the face caused by poor self-care, tension and habitual facial expressions and from external factors such as pollution, poor diet, smoking and alcohol that give the face its wrinkled, sagging, uneven appearance.

NFL therapy works holistically to stimulate energy flow, relieve tension and stress in your whole body, and improve circulation, skin elasticity and toxin elimination, bringing a balance to the head and the body.

Just as your body needs regular exercise to stay toned, clear and healthy, so your face does too.

What are the benefits?

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Strengthens muscles
  • Tightens skin
  • Improves skin and tissue elasticity
  • Eliminates toxins and improves lymph drainage, boosting immunity
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Naturally stimulates collagen
  • Reduces darkness and puffiness around the eyes
  • Exfoliates and clears dead skin cells
  • Relaxes and de-stresses
  • Soothes symptoms of headaches, sinus discomfort, jaw, eye and ear conditions
  • Regulates sleeping patterns
  • Prolongs a youthful appearance
  • Enhances the overall feeling of well being
  • Encourages a confident appearance and behaviour
  • Clears energy meridians in the face and maintains a balanced and constant energy flow

You will see and feel a difference in skin texture and tone after just one session.  The skin becomes softer and complexion more even, eyes appear larger and brighter, puffiness around the chin is reduced and looks tighter.  Cheeks appear lifted and the jawline prominent and smooth.

Plus, your daily moisturiser will work better and go much further as a result of treatments. With your skin free of dirt, dead skin cells and clogged pores, it will absorb more efficiently and effectively.

Aside from the visible benefits, clients report feeling calm and positive, are able to sleep more soundly and cope better with daily life.

How often should I have Natural Facelift Therapy?

5-6 Treatments to start to see results!

To maintain treatments, maximise the effect and prolong the benefits, I recommend booking a package of 6 treatments initially.  The objective is to take these sessions regularly at first, spread over a 2 month period.  Everyone's complexion is different, but it's beneficial to continue to have further treatments on a monthly basis as a top up or for a special occasion such as a birthday or wedding celebrations when you may feel you need some extra.

Home care advice and exercises are given at the end of your first treatment.  They are simple facial exercises designed to reinforce and complement between treatments.  Incorporate them into your daily routine each morning or evening.
